Velia Mendoza Soliz, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on March 11, 2024 with her family by her side.  Velia was born on October 17, 1933 in Odem, Texas to Marcelino and Patricia (Uvaye) Mendoza.  Velia’s life was dedicated to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.  She is preceded in death by her husband Victor Soliz Sr.; her parents, Marcelino and Patricia (Uvaye) Mendoza; her children, Frances Soliz, Victor Soliz Jr., Ruben Soliz, and Sylvia (Soliz) Garza.  Survivors include her two sons; Joe Soliz (Diana) and Santiago Soliz (Helen) both from Sinton, Texas; her sisters, Antonia Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Aurora Mendoza Torres of Odem, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

We would like to give a special Thank You to Gracie Saldana, Janie Cardenas, Rosa Deleon, Josie Altamirano and to everyone who helped in the care of our beloved mom!  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home chapel. The final visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 8 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.
