Rose Louise (Ricciardi) Vanecek

Rose Louise (Ricciardi) Vanecek, passed away March 21, 2024, at age 92. She was born September 18, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Frank and Catherine (Franchetti) Ricciardi. Rose married Anton (Tony) Vanecek of Sinton, Texas on August 2, 1952, celebrating 53 years of marriage. She is survived by 6 children, Greg (Debbie) Vanecek, Paulette (Jim) Fay, Grace (Mike) Hunter, Matthew (Regina) Vanecek, Monica (Gerald) Janda, Mark (Carol) Vanecek, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, her sister, Patricia Duran, sisters-in-law, Betty (Dave) Ayers, Barbara Vanecek and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband. In 1956, Rose and Tony moved to Sinton, Texas. Rose was proud of her Italian ancestry and loved preparing authentic Italian cuisine, she also embraced her husband's Czech culture with dishes of its heritage. She retired from AT&T as a telephone operator. Rose was also a devout Catholic, Eucharist Minister, CCD Teacher, and CYO sponsor. She enjoyed traveling. Rose was named Honorary Shipmate for her many years of service as treasurer and reunion coordinator for USS Monterey CVL 26 Association. She took over the duties after Tony passed. She worked for and obtained an invitation for the CVL 26 Association to the Presidential Commissioning of the USS Gerald Ford. In Rose's eyes her greatest happiness was to be called Mimi. The fun, loving, kinda crazy, a spark, unpredictable grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandmother. 

The visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM with the rosary at 7:00 PM at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton followed by graveside services at the Sinton Cemetery.
