Phyllis Groves Euton
Phyllis Euton passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the age of 94.

Phyllis was born on December 9, 1930 to Charles Allen Groves and Nora Etta Groves. She was born in Abilene, Texas and lived in Sinton the majority of her life. She married Elton Euton on September 18, 1950.

Phyllis retired from Sinton I.S.D. where she taught HS English. Her former students remember her as a no-nonsense teacher who never wore the same outfit twice. She sewed all of her clothes and her husband's shirts and ties, who was also a teacher. Even though she was a very private person, she was always surrounded and loved by friends whom she called her family. She was a mother figure and confidant to her close friends. Afternoon visits to her home were truly "happy hour". She was always great company in a stress-free atmosphere. Phyllis made her friends feel as if they were that "one" special person in her life. Her days were planned with things to do for the day. She took pride in her yard and at the age of 94 was still able to mow her lawn using her zero-turn mower. When she wasn't busy at home, she volunteered at the Odem Public library for many years. She assisted her friend the librarian and kept patrons in line. She was an avid reader, and would often have 2 books going at the same time. Her trustworthy trait made her a valuable asset to Sinton ISD. Her assistance with student records, maintenance and payroll records was called upon time and time again. She was dedicated and committed to completing all tasks at hand. There is a huge void in the hearts of all her friends along with her feline friend Sable. We are thankful for the care that Dr. Rene Acuna and his staff provided for her. However, we treasure the priceless moments we had the opportunity to share with her. As we have all said multiple times, "When we grow up, we want to be just like Ms. Euton."

Private graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Sinton Cemetery.
