Ordilia "Tilly" Gonzales

November 26, 1943 - July 9, 2024

On July 9, 2024, Ordilia Gonzales, lovingly known as Tilly, beloved sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 in her hometown of Sinton, Tx. Born on November 26, 1943, she brought joy and love into the lives of all who knew her.

Ordilia was a woman of simple pleasures. She found great happiness in spending time with her beloved children, and grandchildren, her Corazones. Her home was her sanctuary, and she cherished every moment spent there. There, she created beautiful memories and hosted countless gatherings filled with love and laughter. As a cook by profession, she delighted in preparing delicious meals, especially her favorite foods like Pan Dulce, Seafood, American, and Mexican cuisine. She was well known for her tamales.

Ordilia had a passion for music and could often be found swaying to the melodies of her favorite bands and artists, including Juan Gabriel, Mazz, Little Joe, Selena, and Ramon Ayala. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, such as the The Young and the Restless, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and every Sunday watching The Domingo Show.

Survived by her children, Johnny Joe Cruz, Jerry (Juan) L Canizales, Donald (Cecilia) Cruz, and Priscilla (Abel) Castro. Ordilia was a devoted mother who always provided unconditional love and support. Her legacy will continue through her grandchildren, Abel Castro Jr., Donovan Isaac Castro, Sebastion Trey Castro, Jasmin Neveah Canizales, Jacqueline Nicole Canizales, Jezebell Desirae Canizales, Jayden Ramon Canizales, Donald John Cruz, Octavio Jose Cruz, and Nicholas Joel Cruz. She was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Alliana Rae Castro. Her siblings, Blasa (Gavino) Sepeda, Alicia Trevino, Yolanda (Dan) Hundley, Leon ' Sonny' (Gloria) Candelaria, and her late brother, Ronnie Tijerina, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

​

Ordilia's impact on the lives of others was immeasurable. She had a caring heart and always offered a listening ear and sage advice. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in peace. 

​

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 4 PM to 9 PM with a holy rosary being recited at 7 PM at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday July 15, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sinton with Father Glen Mullan as celebrant. Interment will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton. Serving as pallbearers will be Juan Canizales, Abel Castro, Abel Castro, Jr., Donovan Isaac Castro, Sebastion Trey Castro, and Donald John Cruz. Honorary pallbearers will by Jayden Ramon Canizales and Nicolas Joel Cruz. Octavio Jose Cruz will follow behind the honorary pallbearers.
