Mary Ann Vanecek

Mary Ann Vanecek was born August 7, 1933 in Cornhill, Texas to John F. and Francis Polasek who preceded her in death.  She was the youngest of six: her brothers, Johnny (Agnes-living) Polasek; Emil (Francis-living) Polasek; and her sisters, Genevieve (Ben) Naizer; Vlasta (Alton) Kallus; who all preceded her in death.  She is survived by one sister Georgia (Emil) Vanecek.  She was the mother to many.   Michael Ray (Catherine) Vanecek of Sinton; Harvey (Kathleen) Vanecek of Galveston; and Joyce (Ramiro) Ramirez of Corpus Christi; and all of those she took care of and babysat over the years.  She always made sure that she took the kids to their numerous practices and games.  She never missed one.  She was a great cook and baker, but always said she didn’t know how to do either.  She took pride in all her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. Samantha (Fred) Munguia- Londyn Munguia; Cadie Mae (Taylor) Kirkpatrick- Lincoln and Lucas Kirkpatrick; Christina (Kyle) Thorn- Iris Jowell, Reyvin Jowell and Evelyn Thorn; Diana (Jonathan) Cortez- Addelyn, Joseph and Joshua; Kaitlyn Vanecek, Nicholas Vanecek, Deanna Ramirez, Courtney (Christopher) Lawrence; and Kimberly Ramirez.  She went to Heaven to join her husband of 65 years, Robert John Vanecek, on March 15, 2024.  The pallbearers are Nicholas Vanecek, Ramiro Ramirez, Don Mercier, Kenneth Vanecek, Calvin Meyer, and Fred Munguia.  She will be Greatly missed by all who knew her.  We would like to give a Special Thanks to all of the staff of the Mirador, who became her extended family.  The visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 starting at 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the rosary at 7:00 pm at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas.  The funeral mass will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton followed by Graveside Services at the Sinton Cemetery.
