Evita "Eva" Gonzales

Evita "Eva" Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the age of 86.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep as she entered into  heaven.  As a young lady, she had a love for music, singing, and playing the guitar.  Old style and mariachi music is what was heard in the house all the time.  It was what the family grew up with as she would tell them when you sing you are praying to God twice.

Many knew her from her years at Yeats Nursery where she became "Meme" to many.  Her love for plants, gardening, and helping others revive their almost drying plants were results of her amazing green thumb.  She loved to have her house full of plants and flowers as displayed by her decorations every season.  A true love she had with her beloved Frank.  After leaving the nursery, she went to work for Odem's Day Care where everyone there knew her as "Ms. Abby."  The young kids, now adults, still remember "Ms. Abby" when they would see her.

All that knew her had the opportunity of seeing the love she had for sports.  Eva was an avid Dallas Cowboy, San Antonio Spurs, and Texas Baseball fan, where her competition ad discussions with her children on players' stats and game plays were known better by her than any umpire or referee.  "You could just ask her."  Her baking and cooking was beyond imagination.  Eva was well known for her pan de polvo and oatmeal cookies both of which she shared with everyone.  Every holiday she made plates for all the neighbors and friends to enjoy.  She was spreading the love and calories as she shared.  Her flower skills did not stop as she continued to make floral arrangements for friends, family, and her house.  It was her talent and she wanted to share it with everyone.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gonzales; her daughter, Diana Gonzales; her parents, Gilberto and Juanita Rendon and Linda Sue Polderman.  Eva is survived by her children: Norma Jean (Oscar) Rivera, David (Melinda) Gonzales, Frank, Jr.; sisters, Elia Gonzales and Mary Villarreal; her brother, Manuel Espinosa; seven grandchildren, Sabrina Gonzales being her daily shadow, and six great grandchildren.  Visitation will begin on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Sinton.
