Elida Marruquin Huerta, 77, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Elida was a Cursillista and was very involved with her children's activities and sports, She loved gardening and working in her yard, She was a seamstress and loved sewing. Later on in life she got her GED and entry level college. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Gauna Huerta, her parents, Porfirio Benitez Marruquin and Lucinda Gamez, her maternal grandparents, Geronimo Gamez and  Dominga Gonzalez, paternal grandparents, Tomas Marruquin and Concepion Benitez, her brothers, Porfirio Marruquin,Jr. Ruben Marruquin, Robert Marruquin and Thomas Marruquin; her daughter, Joseanna Huerta Almeida; her niece, Hilda Marruquin Freeman; her son-in-law, Arnulfo Zamora; her grandson, Justin Corey Huerta; her great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Iris Huerta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her loving family, her sons, Jose Gauna Huerta, Jr of Corpus Christi, Patricio M. (Gloria) Huerta, Billy Vidal Huerta, and Martin (Suchada) Huerta of Odem; her daughters, Petra Zamora of Corpus Christi and Velma Pires of Pittsfield, Ma.; her sister, Inez (Norman) Cole of Temperance, Michigan;  sisters-in-law, Irene Morales Marruquin of Toledo, Ohio, Ruby Rodriguez Marruquin of Indio, California, and Aeropajita Marruqiun; 28 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem with Father George as celebrant.  Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Odem.
